Ipsy - September 2013 - First Impressions & Review

I'm back!!

I decided to rejoin Ipsy after seeing what they had been doing since I was last getting their monthly subscription bag. When I last received one they were still going by MyGlam. They have since switched to the name "Ipsy". They're still $10 a month. But they've also started utilizing their "quiz" or survey to help customize each person's bag each month. I don't know how well that is going just yet...but I'll explain that when it comes to one of the products.

This is what the bag looked like this month. I find it super cute. The inside isn't lined but that's okay. I've been using it inside my purse as a little bag to keep my money and important things in. I've also kept the eyeliner and mascara in it just incase I need one of them during the day.

I received the NYX eye shadow in Velvet Suede which is a pale shimmery blue. Not a shade for everyday where. I can see myself using it at some point but probably not until spring. Definitely fits more into a Spring trend than Fall.

I do like NYX eye shadows. I always use a primer
with them as they are kind of powdery.

Swatched with no primer next to the eyeliner I received

"It's So Big" Mascara. It is a little travel size. I've never heard of it. I'm guessing that's the brand..and they only make mascara? There wasn't any information provided about this company or the product (big negative). This product was very wet and caused my lashes to stick together. I much prefer drier mascaras that offer a more...fluttery...look to the lashes. It is not waterproof and will definitely will come off when it comes into contact with any moisture. The one thing that is kind of cool, I guess, is that if you're in the shower or taking it off, it doesn't just run down your face, it comes off in tiny little pieces. I don't know. Found that out in the shower and thought it was a little different.
The wand as you can see is smaller in the middle. This does make the outer lashes to sort of wing out and get a little more mascara. The mascara also comes out in a blob on the tip so lower lashes are really a no-go.

I really don't think it lived up to its name. Aside from trying it, I have yet to reach for this mascara to use on a daily basis. I just have it in my travels in case of emergency.
To be continued..
