Gossip Girl Birch Box Review (May 2012)

I only have one Birch Box and it was the Gossip Girl from last month and it's one that I have a love/hate relationship with. Because I actually liked 3 out of 5 of the products, except they were teeny, but probably would have been okay if I hadn't known what other high end samples there were, like Dior and Stila. I signed up for these types of services to try Dior and Stila before buying the full size because they are sooooo expensive! But, no.....I hated this box, but I also liked the products. Like, I don't even think they were at the same level as the box that came with BOTH the Dior Show mascara and perfume sample. Ugh. Anyways...

My card said "Chic Sunday Brunch" - which one of the girl's from Eleventh Gorgeous got, but also with some other products, so don't know what happened there. She also got a really cool lip balm...

1. Arquiste L'Etrog - OLD LADY PERFUME - like, I put this one and IMMEDIATELY smelled like my Nana. As the day wore on it got a little more....musky I guess? as it mixed with my body chemistry and turned out all right. But it also gave me a headache. Didn't like very much. I am so picky when it comes to perfume. Full size is $165 (RIDICULOUS!!) The other sample size perfume I got before is .06 oz so I'm thinking this is the same, but don't know how big the full size is.

2. BeautyBlender - Blender Cleanser - I do not own the beauty blender, so don't send products for something that someone may not own.....I was pissed about it for that reason. I know you can use it as a normal brush cleaner, but I will never buy it for that reason on its own....just no. Full Size $17.95 (my $3 ELF ones do the job quite well). I don't know how big the full size is, or even how big this one is.

3. Color Club Nail Polish - Disco Nap - Light Gold Metallic-foil color - I really liked this color. I love metallics. It lasted like three days. And applied VERY thick that it wasn't very even. It says the full size is $8 but I know you can find this a lot cheaper and would rather spend the same money on an essie or Zoya polish.

4. Dr. Jart + - Waterfuse BB Cream - I was VERY excited for this (minus the teeny weeny sample size). I've never tried a BB cream and really wanted to and was hoping to get one as a sample. This stuff was really cool and really moisturizing. It made my skin feel really soft. I used it as a primer under my foundation. The coverage was sheer (also because I wanted it to last as long as possible). I got about 6 uses out of it, when if I had a full size BB cream of a decent price and was given the same amount it probably would have been 3 uses. Full Size is $32 (UGH). I will definitely get a BB cream because of this, but it will be one of the Korean brands I've heard rave reviews about. I would buy this if I had enough birchbox points to bring down the price. Except I would have liked more coverage. It was barely enough to be a tinted moisturizer. The color was pretty light.

No Picture Yet :(

5. twistband - Skinny Headband - Bright Light Blue - I was VERY skeptical about this. I was excited for it because I'm getting into hair things but every time I try a fabric headband it slips, even the ones with the rubber to prevent slipping, they slip. This one barely slipped. It only did if I had put shine spray in and right after I dyed my hair (which sucks because now I need to wash it). 6 pack is $20 and they really are worth it. I would totally spend the $20 on the 6 pack  - well, if I was this one and it still works the same. It comes in such fun colors too!

The other main reason why it's such a love/hate relationship, is because this box was SOOOO SOOOO SOOO hyped up. They made it seem like it was going to be the best one yet. And so many people said they loved the teen vogue box, I think they were expecting it to be super amazing because the teen vogue was and this was so hyped. And I bet a lot of girls were happy when they got Dior and Stila and real makeup and such. And since this was my first month, and a bunch of people signed up, I would have given the new people something to really draw them into the service. Soooo, that leads me to this, I do a three strikes and your out kind of thing (unless you do something really bad). So I'll give it two more months.. If I am not pleased I will be cancelling and hopefully trying either GlossyBox (which I want sooooo bad but its $21) and another one that I just found that was makeup, which is their own brand, like Julep, so I don't really care, it's all makeup (around $16).
