Misc. Beauty Ramblings

I didn't take a picture of my FOTD yesterday as my memory card is getting low.

And I have a bad headache right now and am extremely tired or else I'd probably do a random look right now...

Revlon Cream Eyeshadow Quad - This thing is GORGEOUS! (Yeah, fingerprints...)

During that ULTA visit I also got the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk (FINALLY!) and everyone should have at least Milk because it really is worth it as good as its hyped up to be.

Revlon Color Stay Whipped Foundation - I still currently have mixed feelings on this

NYX Matte Bronzer in Medium (03)

I also bought a ton of eyeshadows from a blog sale. Almost all are from Madd Style Cosmetics and are mineral shadows (also, all of them are vegan which is cool). I will post some pictures of those once my memory card is cleared because there are a lot.

Also included in that was a Sleek blush which I was SO EXCITED to try. Although the color does NOT go well with me (Pomegranate) because I have very red skin that shows through pretty much every foundation I've tried (no high end ones) and the color just makes it a lot worse. But now I want to try more because it's a super nice blush. I might be able to make it work because I love the color but I don't know.

And a new ...that word....to my blog..

Nails Of The Moment... (NOTM)

I did these yesterday from a video tutorial by ...... oh let me go find her youtube name

They're a neon leopard print - although...they didn't come out that good because I don't have long nails. And no dotting tool so they are kind of sloppy. They are super cute though. They also bubbled REALLY bad.

I just used nail polish I had lying around. Nothing special.

The rest of my July Julep Box

Mentioned Previously -

Georgia

Poppy Lip Vernis

 And I also received:

Mischa - which was missing some and upon opening the cap wasn't all the way tight and some had obviously spilled and then had been cleaned up. But Julep was kind enough to send me out another

America - a free polish for the month of July (I couldn't get a good enough picture to show all the little glitter pieces)

Test

Ugh, I just want them to upload without that pixel grid thing or w.e. it is!! I think it's because the original size of the pictures is so big and the app scales them down so small when it uploads the pictures to the blog.

Look - little golden sparkles - the gloss is too shiny to see them when it's on your lips though

Georgia's partner in crime....

Poppy

A OMG coral lip gloss (vernis)
I love this stuff. I've been looking for a  coral/orange gloss. its more orange than pink.

The theme of July was the trend of matching the lips to the nails and all of the boxes had a lip vernis that matched one of the nail colors. It smells good and is creamy. It's sheer enough that it's not "BAM! orange lips" but you can still notice the color (not anything like the swatches on Julep's website). It looks scary until you put it on. I like sticky glosses. It's sticky enough but not overly sticky. It's actually just like the consistency of the ELF $1 lip glosses that come in the tube like the Stila Lip Glazes. It's not sticky like the lip glazes (which I actually really like...).

Ahhh - it's sooooo pretty!!! And matches very well to the nails!

Look at the little golden sparkles - they are very hard to see though and even tougher to notice when it's on the lips since it's a very shiny

I found heaven in a bottle....

And her name is Georgia...

Its more peach than orange (some of the pics are off in color) and the actual nail is a little darker and less gold shimmery on the nail.

Helllooooo D.I.Y.

So I made technically, two things, today...

I created a beachy texturizing spray using partial recipes from what I had seen and adding a few other ingredients of my own. I have everything written down but I do not want to post it up until I have actually tried it, which I am doing today/tonight.

I also had created some green tea "extract" for the hair spray and I have some left over so I am going to dilute it and now I have a facial toner.

And I just thought of but have not completed yet, is a lip scrub, because I really need one right now and I just found a random empty container. And this will be the simplest lip sugar scrub ever. I do know how to create a more solid one using beeswax and other fun and yummy for your skin ingredients, but I do not have any of those available to me and it's a slight emergency :))

Since I do not have coarse sugar which is the best because it takes longer to melt - or even raw sugar (which  I believe is more coarsely ground than the refined white sugar - I am going to use brown sugar and a little bit of sea salt mixed with some EVOO until it's in a paste format. I also have the pur-lisse stuff which I really do not like at all...so I am going to mix a little bit of that in there. I do not want to do all pur-lisse because the stuff is still expensive, it's just an extra lip-loving ingredient to add.

See you soon!

Fall 2012 - Makeup and Hair Trends from the Runway

Oh, how much I LOVE fall and the trends..

Break out the greens/teals/blues as they are totally ruling the runway. And of course with fall comes the brown smokey eye and some of the looks on the runway were more astray from the normal smokey eye with the brown coming above the crease and onto the brow bone. And the other big trend - multi-purpose use of the lipstick. (I've been doing this a little but with the ELF all over color stick and using it on my eyes, cheeks and lips).

Makeup Trends:
Harpers Bazaar

Hair Trends:
Harpers Bazaar

"Precise Ponys" - Yay, I have super long hair and its always in a pony
"Low Volume Hair" - I never really liked a lot of volume anyways
"With a Twist" - Totally excited for this one
"Bouffants" - I don't really like this, I think my hair is too long anyways to pull it off and I don't see myself wearing it out in public at all...
"Exceptional Extras" - I need to go out and buy myself some hair accessories, or things to make up

It seems like this is the perfect season for my hair and how I usually wear it.

And then I pulled some of my favorites from a few articles:
It's probably mostly makeup because I don't know how much you can say about pony tails and sleek hair.

Best Hair and Makeup at New York's Fashion Week (2012)
Harpers Bazaar

L'Wren Scott
"The fall season is all about the statement eye—specifically in blue or green tones. Makeup artist Aaron de Mey created a hazy sapphire eye by smoking navy liner along the upper and lower lashes and blending it up above the crease."

Anna Sui
"A flick of cobalt blue liner wakes up the eyes faster than any eye cream or cucumbers. Makeup artist Pat McGrath traced on a thick line, extending it slightly up and past the outer corners. The tiny blue dots under the pupils were an extra eye-opening touch, but we'd dab on silver or brown to make the look wearable off the runway."

Michael Kors

"Lipstick can really pull double-duty this season, as it’s been used to define the lips, lids, and now cheeks. Makeup artist Dick Page blended a concentrated cherry red lipstick mixed with a drop of foundation on the apples, swirling it around with a makeup sponge to channel an après-ski-and-sex kind of look."

Totally love the idea of adding a drop of foundation to lipstick to use it on the cheeks.

Karen Walker

Deep-sea blue nails are looking strong for fall as a rich contrast to nudes and paler shades. Manicurist Wanda Ruiz painted on a couple coats of blackened blue finished with a shiny top coat (welcome back gloss!).

I'm hoping Julep comes out with a dark navy for the fall, or else I'm going to have to find one because it's a color I love, but definitely do not have yet.

Donna Karan

How to make red unexpected? Try it on your eyelids and nail tips, instead of just lips. Charlotte Tilbury blended a port wine pigment over eyes from the base of lashes to just above the crease while manicurist Deborah Lippmann painted burgundy edges on nude nails.

Prabal Gurung

Timid this look is not! Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury was inspired by the array of colors seen in bird feathers when creating this peacock effect. She blended teal shadow all over the lids and through the brows, then detailed the lower lashes with cooper brown for rich dimension. She finished by tracing an electric blue kohl pencil in the inner corners and smudging it under the brow bones.

Jason Wu

Greenish-blue shades are appearing all over the runway. Makeup artist Diane Kendal designed this dark emerald smoky eye by blending marine blues and painterly greens shadows over the lid and beyond the corners, then worked a cool teal eyeliner into the crease.

Red white and blue FOTN for fireworks

July 3rd - City Fireworks Night

Now the blogger is being stupid and won't load the pictures past July 4th on my google+ account.

This is the one from the Fourth. I also forgot my phone was on "sport" mode when I took this (boo) It was sooo pretty. I am going to re-create it for the makeupgeek weekly challenge.
Random look of the day for Thursday (7/5) - Green with gold duo-chrome type idea with a gold sparkly eyeliner from ELF (it's actually the color copper but is more gold) - again "sport" mode

Benefit Hoola dupe

I need to go back to ulta so I'll get a swatch photo then. But when I was there when I swatches these two next to each other they were almost identical. they were unblended swatches. But is a match to NYX matte bronzer in 02 Medium. Thus was the only lower prices MATTE  bronzer I could find. I spent over an hour there. And managed to get a pretty much duplicate item.

I feel like the nyx is too warm/orangey for a contour.to me a contour should be cool and I find more eye shadows I would use as s contour. And the nyx has some shimmer note that I opened it. I commented to then asking why if us supposed to be matte. To me, matte has no shimmer, glitter or frost. I gaff the same issue with the 88 matte palette. I feel like its false advertising. O would have gotten a cheapEr one if I wanted shimmer and can't afford the Hoola. But even after searching the hoola its so a warm tone and does match ths nyx but it send different on you tube tutorials. Ugh. Why ifs it so difficult. I know nyx had a contour and high light compact but the contour looks so dark and ulta didn't have it so I can't swatch it on my pale skin. It might be better but now I don't have the money for it. And it looks like a cooler toned brown.

Ugh

FOTD

Yeah lol

I don't even really remember what I did....I think it was just a neutral eye with a darkened outer v.

I felt really pretty that day though..

Oh, yupp, that's what I did :))
